This cover is made for exactly that — crafted by hand in Kofu, Japan, using inden, a technique that has survived 440 years of history. Deer or cowhide is hand-painted with lacquer, one careful stroke at a time, by artisans who learned this craft the way it has always been passed down: slowly, in person, by doing.

The result is a cover that gets better with use. The leather softens to your hands. The lacquer deepens with age. It becomes, over time, unmistakably yours.

Ocean Waves 青海波 Seigaiha
Imagine standing at the edge of the sea, watching the waves move endlessly outward. That image — peaceful, powerful, without limit — is exactly what this pattern has represented for over a thousand years. Named after an ancient imperial court dance, it has dressed emperors and actors, monks and warriors. It means: may good fortune flow to you, without end.

 Natural urushi lacquer deepens in luster with age. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Keep away from sharp or hard surfaces that may scratch the lacquer.
